COURSE DESCRIPTION
Students will learn the basic of piano playing technique. We will study basic music theory as well as learn individual songs. Class is structured in such a way that we will be working together as a group, and then move forward at a student’s individual pace. Some students will progress faster than others based on the amount of time they practice. This course is designed to begin a student’s journey on playing piano for a lifetime of enjoyment.
EXPECTATIONS
My expectations are simple; be teachable, listen, follow directions and don’t complain. I will expect the following behaviors in class:
*You will come in with a good attitude and be ready to
*You will not talk or chew gum during class
*You will be respectful and kind to everyone in the room
*You will be respectful of the space and everything in it, including instruments
*You will follow all school rules and dress codes
GRADING
Students will receive a numerical grade on their progress reports. Grading will be determined based on the following rubric:
70% - Solo work, practice and progress
20% - Group class participation
10% - Recitals
