Comments: Hey folks, I followed up on at least one of your recommendations. I have to admit that I laughed quite a bit watching This Is the End, Alex. I'll be making my way to Sam's pick, Jack Reacher, and, of course, Iron Man 3 when it makes it to dvd. As far as visits to the movie theater, here's a link to my review, or response, to Gravity.

"The best parts of Flicka are its pinch-me optimism and its old-fashioned-movie flourishes." says Wesly Morris of the Boston Globe. it also got a 57 out of 100 rating from the critics Budget: $15,000,000 (estimated) Opening Weekend: $7,703,551 (USA) (20 October 2006) Gross: $20,998,709 (USA)(2 February 2007

Comments: Blow, a biography, crime, drama film, was released on April 6, 2001. Being directed by Ted Demme and co-written by Bruce Porter, David McKenna, and Nick Cassavetes, the film had an estimated budget of $30,000,000 and had a gross box office amount of $8,844,782. Although the average score is only 52, based on metacritic, Blow is a very good movie and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in crime and drama films. The metacritic score is based on the opinions of critics and metacritic users. On the site, whenever a person searches a film or writes a review on a film, they have the option to rate the film on a scale of one to ten. The average of all of the rates is the metacritic score. Peter Travers, of Rolling Stone says that this film “Scorches the screen with a badass bravado all its own. Smart, sexy, funny and dangerous this high-wire act is a movie and a half.” I agree with Travers. This film is outstanding. It gives viewers a, sort of, rush when watching all of the scandalous and dangerous events. http://www.metacritic.com/movie/blow/trailers/1083021

The budget to make this movie was $80,000,000 and as of September 2013 the gross was $131,964,540 according to imdb.com. MaryAnn Johanson, from Flick Filosopher, wrote “This is not a movie. This is nothing but Adam Sandler hanging out with his pals and congratulating himself on how awesome he finds himself to be.” I disagree because it was was very funny it was about his friends not just about him.

Comments: The movie I chose was “Grown up 2”, directed by Dennis Dugan. The movie was released on July 12, 2013. The genre of the movie is Comedy. The overall rating of the movie was 50. Out of 10 on Imdb.com. In the critics reviews there was a mix of negative and positive reviews. The movie is about moving his family back to his hometown to be with his friends and their kids, Lenny finds out that between old bullies, new bullies, schizo bus drivers, drunk cops on skis, and 400 costumed party. I went down and say the Spectacular Now at Cinemapolis down by the commons. It was worth going.

Comments: The movie I chose was The Spectacular Now, directed by James Ponsoldt. The movie was released on September 13, 2013. The genre of this movie is comedy, drama, and romance. The overall rating of the movie was 82 out of 100 on metacritic. In the critics reviews there was only 2 negative reviews the rest were positive or mixed. There was only one bad critic review on metacritic. As Lawrence Toppman, from the Charlotte Observer says, “Has an honesty few movies seek or achieve these days.”The movie is about a charmer who falls in love with an unexpected girl in his school. There relationship turns to an unlikely romance, which becomes confusing, for both are haunted by their passion of youth. Coincidently, I was encouraged to come out of my comfort zone by Mr. Pfarrer, to check out the theater Cinemapolis down to the commons and see this movie. I am very happy I took this chance. I would recommend anyone to check out the theater and to see this movie.

Comments: One of the better films that I have seen in quite a while is Jack Reacher. It is a very well directed movie. It is considered to be an Action, Crime, and Thriller. The protagonist is a man named Jack Reacher, who is played by the incredible Tom Cruise. “A homicide investigator digs deeper into a case involving a trained military sniper who shot five random victims” (imdb.com). It was released in2012 and had a budget of $60,000,000 and had a gross of $80,033,643. It was directed by John Hillcoat. It only got 50 out of 100, yellow, meaning that it had mixed reviews. One critic named Peter Debruge said that “The star is too charismatic to play someone so cold-blooded, and his fans likely won't appreciate the stretch.” Meaning that the movie would have of been better if Jack Reachers role was played by a different actor instead of Tom Cruise. I disagree with the critic because I believe that he did a very good job and fit into the role very well. One of my favorite scenes is the car chase; it is action packed and is full of good cuts and angles which really pull the viewer into the movie. You should really check it out!  The other scene that I really like was the bar fight, it showed how well throughout the screenplay was, by introducing comedy in with a fight scene.

Comments: A Beautiful Mind, released in 2002, is a Biograghy/Drama directed by Ron Howard. The budget was estimated to be $60,000,000 and grossed $170,708,996 at the box office (as of May 24, 20002). Metacritic gave A Beautiful Mind a score of 72, meaning generally favorable among the critics. Roger Ebert, of Chicago Sun-Times, wrote "Crowe brings the character to life by sidestepping sensationalism and building with small behavoiral changes." I agree with this film's score. A beautiful Mind is by far my favorite movie. This film is vary thought provoking. When I watched it, I've wondered how our own minds have all of this potential, mathematical or not, that is yet to be tapped into.

Comments: IMDB:the name of the movie that i resserched is Space Jam. This movie was released in the year 1996. This films generas are adventure, while staying in a comedic sense to keep the viewer interested the entire time, this film is also animated which was nice cause it made it more of a family movie. The director of this film was/is Joe Pytka. The buddget for this film was bassed arround eighty million dollars however this film only brought a total gross of roughly 15,250,308.06 dollars on the firt night it was shown. The average score for this film was an 5.1 out of 10 the reason this film got this score was because it was more of a movie that would entertain children but for the most part bore the parents.one of the responses to this movie that i really enjoyed reading was by Jonathan Rosenbaum-chicago reader- his words exactg wer"Simpler and cruder than Who Framed Roger Rabbit in terms of story and technique, this is still a great deal of fun, confirming that Jordan is every bit as mythological a creature as Daffy Duck or Yosemite Sam." i one hundred percent agree with what Jonathan had to say because as a kid i felt like this movie made Michael Jordan out to be a being unlike no other. Comments: Warm Bodies, was released in 2013 and is a comedy, horror, romance film that was directed by Jonathan Levine. The estimated cost to make the movie was $35,000,000, and it grossed $66,359,959 as of May 3rd 2013. According to metacritic.com, Warm Bodies scored an average review of 59 which means it is an “average” film among critics. Richard Roeper, of the Chicago Sun Times, wrote "Warm Bodies is a well-paced, nicely directed, post-apocalyptic love story with a terrific sense of humor and the, um, guts to be unabashedly romantic and unapologetically optimistic.” I would have to agree with this review, but not so much with the score. The movie Warm Bodies, was very interesting and at the same time unique in the movie world of zombies. It made me think that maybe zombies don’t always have to be searching for food and living off of live flesh to survive. What if they could go from dead flesh eating zombies to normal everyday people again much like they did in the movie, Warm Bodies. In my opinion we there should be more zombie movies like this instead of the normal interoperations of zombies. Why always have movies were zombies chase, pounce, gnaw, pound on doors and windows, and kill every human they can when we directors and switch it up a bit. I’m sure many will agree when I say zombie movies that have the same general setting and what the life of a zombie is does get old after awhile.

On metacritic.com A Few Good Men scored a 62 out of a hundred (generally favorable reviews) Todd McCarthy of variety said, "Expert story construction and compelling thesping and direction make all the narrative elements pay off as if calculated by a precision instrument in which all the parts are working perfectly." I agree with this because I found this movie to be compelling and very entertaining up till the end when you get the famous "you cant handle the truth!" line. Its a good movie and id recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it.

Comments: Riddick is a relatively new film, released September 6, 2013, that was directed by David Twohy. It is an action, sci-fi, thriller set in the future. The film had an estimated budget of $38,000,000 and grossed $38,162,475 as of September 25, according to http://imdb.com/. On http://metacritic.com/ Riddick scored a 48 out of 100, meaning it got mostly just “mixed or average reviews” from some critics featured on the website. Peter Hardlaub of the San Francisco Chronicle wrote, “The result isn’t a great film, but it’s true to the original brutal version.” Joe Neumaier of the New York Daily News wrote, “Riddick.. couldn’t even qualify for a proper summer film placement..” I usually tend to disagree with the critics, but this film wasn’t great. It was an okay film, but it was slow and dry. It was good in some parts but overall the film was just bad. I saw the film with my dad and he thought it was good. However, he had seen the previous films that led up to it and seemed to have a better understanding of the plot. I can’t say that I would recommend this film. The story just seemed to progress very slowly and it was as if the director had added some scenes to increase the length of the film. The lack of variation also made it boring. It was just the same thing happening over and over. There wasn’t really anything too exciting happening, it wasn’t very scary, and the ending was predictable. It almost seemed outdated in the way that it was filmed. The film wasn’t terrible, but I wouldn’t see it again.

Comments: The film I am going to talk about is, yet again, the Wolverine- an action-adventure-fantasy film. The movie was released on July 26th of this year, and it was directed by James Mangold. The budget was an estimated $120,000,000. The gross box office earning was $130,884,916 as of September 20th. On opening weekend , July 26th, the movie made $53,113,752. Metacritic scored it a 60/100, which basically means that there were a few scenes in this movie, (in opinion of the critics of course) that the critics loved, but the rest was not as stunning. One critic just summed it up as "Wolfie deserves better. So do we." (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone) In my opinion, Travers is right. "Wolfie" needs more recognition in the world of Hollywood, and I hope the next movie he shows up in, he gets that recognition.

It cost about 17,000,000 dollars to make and grossed 54,239,856 dollars.(imdb.com) According to metacritic.com it scored only a 57, meaning critics reviewed it as average. Kevin C. Johnson, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch wrote, "It's ultimately everything a modern horror movie should be." I strongly and absolutely agree with this review. This movie was gruesome, bloody, and downright disgusting, and I'd go see it a thousand times more. Some parts were a little cheesy but overall it still managed to creep me out and make me love it at the same time. It wasn't a movie that made you jump but more one that made you cringe and want to look away, but you can't. Evil Dead was a great horror film and I was really impressed, which is a very uncommon thing in most recent horror movies.

With an estimated budget of $185,000,000, it grossed $533,316,061 in the USA as of February 27, 2009. According to Metcritic.com, The Dark Knight scored an average review of 82 out of 100, making it a universally acclaimed film. Claudia Puig from USA Today wrote, “When was the last time you saw a blockbuster that was impeccably executed and simultaneously thought-provoking, audacious and unnerving while consistently being fun and entertaining?” This review is incredibly accurate, as the film takes the rough edges of the Batman franchise found in comics such as Batman: Year One, The Killing Joke, The Dark Knight Returns, and The Further Adventures of The Joker, and brings them to life in an excellent manner. It caused me to think about just how much Batman (Bruce Wayne) was teetering on the brink of insanity himself, and how the Joker really was the Yin to his Yang. The nightmarish appearance and laugh of The Joker allowed me to be almost unnerved when these factors were combined with his habits of making people fight to the death, and cutting open another man’s face. Of course, the film had to be entertaining, which it was in quite a few ways. After all, what’s funnier than watching a clown stab a pencil through someone’s eye or dropping a woman out a window? The whole film created an aura of horror, dark humor, murder, crime, and drama perfectly described in this review.

Comments: The movie This is the End was a fantasy, comedy movie that was directed by Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg. It was released in the June of 2013 with a budget of approximately $32 million. After its release, it accumulated a gross box office of a little over $101 million. On Metacritic, This is the End received an average score of a 67 which means it got generally favorable reviews. One review of the movie gave it a 100 and said, “It’s the wildest screen comedy in a long time, and also the smartest, the most fearlessly inspired, and the snort-out-loud funniest” (Glieberman, Entertainment Weekly). I agree with Glieberman on this one. I thought this movie was hysterical and pushed the limit on what is deemed “acceptable” to do in a movie. This movie had its own style of humor and isn’t quite like any other comedy I’ve seen in a while. This film deserved a 100 and this critic saw that.

The star of this show is actor Will Smith. The show is based on The Banks family, a respectable Californian family, take in a relative, Will Smith, a street smart teenager from Philadelphia. The idea is to make him respectable, responsible and mature because he came from the streets of Philly and his mom couldnt handle him anymore. This show had a rating of 7.8 out of 10, this is a comedy show and there were only 14 bad reviews. Will was asked to be the star in this show after he was about to go bankrupt in 1989.

The movie was epic. Now there’s a new standard that all other super hero movies have to live up to. That’s good for viewers, because we get more exiting and thrilling movies. 13 Going on 30 is a comedy/fantasy/romance that came out in 2004. The movie was directed by Gary Winick, and written by Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa. Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo, and Judy Greer play lead roles in this film. The movie scored a 57 out of 100 on Medacridic.com which is a decent score. However, it did have a couple of very good reviews. Entertainment Weekly stated, "The rare commercial comedy that leaves you entranced by what can happen only in the movies." 13 going on 30 has always been my favorite movie and I believe it should have gotten a better score on Medacridic. However I do agree with the positive reviews. It is a light hearted movie with a lot of comedy and romance. if you dont enjoy "chick flicks" then I wouldnt reccomend seeing this movie.

Comments: Folks, your guestbook entry this week has to go a little further in terms of research. I'd like you to write about a film of your own choice again, but this time, instead of writing about its plot, characters or actors, you're going to go to www.imdb.com and look up the following: its year of release, genre, director, budget (how much it cost to make) and gross box office results (how much it has made as of a particular date). Provide that information, citing imdb.com as your source, and then take a trip to www.metacritic.com, where you can learn its average score from film critics, and read a few of their reviews.  After providing the average score, and its meaning (written below it), cite from one of the reviews, making sure to include the writer's name and the newspaper, magazine or website for which she/he writes. Finish up with an appropriate response to the citation, which you can agree or disagree with.  I'll provide an example of this Guestbook entry, but to make it easier on you, let me just provide you a checklist below:

Comments: This summer I spent most of my time with my friends, hanging out and seeing movies. One of my favorite movies that I saw over the summer was a comedy named We’re The Millers. It was the funniest movie I have seen in a very long time. The acting was great, and the writing was phenomenal, there was never a dull point in the movie. The movie was directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, and had protagonist of Jennifer Aniston the stripper, Jason Sudeikis the pot dealer, Emma Roberts the homeless person, and Will Poulter the virgin. The antagonist Ed helms, the drug lord. The movie had me laughing the whole time I was in the theater. I highly suggest that you go and see this movie; it is kind of a dirty comedy but is definitely worth the eleven dollars you pay at the theatre. It was so good that I went and saw it a second time, which I never do.

This film was directed by Michael Bay,some other movies that Michael has directed were Transformers one and three and Armageddon. The two main actors of this film were Mark Walhberg and Dawayne Johnson, some popular films that theses actors have been in were contraband, and the fighter-Mark Walhberg,GI Joe-retaliation and Fast and the Furious Six-Dawayne Johnson. All in All I really enjoyed this film because it waqs more comical that how serious I thought it would have been.

Comments: I would have to say the best movie I've seen this year would be We're The Millers starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. I'd its one of the funniest movies I've seen since Step Brothers and Talladega Nights. I like how the characters blended together nicely and really seemed to fit their roles. Jennifer Aniston has a few good parts in this movie.  And Kevin Rossman the "son" is a lucky guy just saying. But, there were some flaws with this movie, in my opinion the middle dragged on too much and it was a little too predictable some parts could have been done without, but the movie was still hilarious and even the parts where the movie seemed to drag on for me were still good, I just found myself kind of waiting for the end for this movie. But id still encourage you to check it out sometime.

Comments: It looks like We're the Millers, Despicable Me 2 and Now You See Me are the most popular films amongst you latest batch of writers. I thought you might like to know what each movies score was over at metacritic.com, where they track movie, television, game and music reviews. Click on the links to find out.  I'll just say that it looks like you fans of animation will be happiest.

Some would say box office ($$$) is more important than what the critics write or say. I wonder how much money each one of these films has made. That might make a good guestbook entry next time.  A little comparison of reviews vs. profits.  Hmmm.

In Too Deep
sounds interesting, Chris. I'm a fan of realistic crime films; I might end up seeing this one. One critic, Chris Kaltenbach, who writes for the Baltimore Sun, called your choice "A gritty, profane and profoundly disturbing look at the American drug culture."

Comments: So recently I saw the Movie We're the Millers, directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber and staring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis. I have to admit this is probably the funniest movies I've ever seen. It had a good mix of serious and outrageously funny scenes. In this movie the line of being appropriate was crossed many times. But that's one of the things I liked most about it. These days everyone is worried about offending someone else or hurting their feelings. So this movie was refreshing in seeing there are still people who are willing to push the boundaries and go a little too far. This is definitely a movie to go see but not one you should see with your grandmother

Comments: I'm a sucker for cartoon movies. I happened to go see Despicable Me 2 this summer, and of course I liked it. The main character, Gru, voiced by Steve Carell, is recruited for the Anti-Villain League to help find a new criminal. Meanwhile at home he has millions of minions who slowly start to go missing. Gru has three daughters, Margo, Edith and Agnes. Margo is voiced by Miranda Cosgrove, Edith is voiced by Dana Gaier and Anges is voiced by Elsie Fisher. Despicable Me 2 is directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud. I would defiantly recommend this to anyone who loves funny kid movies! And Lastly....I can't forget about Gru's millions of workers...also known as his Minions!

Comments: I have watched so many movies over the past year, many were seen this summer. Of the many entries, I’d have to say one of my favorite movies is Despicable Me 2. This movie was a new release on July 3rd, 2013. After seeing the first Despicable Me, I felt it was necessary to see the second. The protagonist of Despicable Me 2, Gru, was played by the very funny Steve Carell. The conflict of the movie involves Gru, a former villain, who is recruited by the Anti-Villain League (AVL) to help get rid of a new super criminal. Gru works alongside AVL agent Lucy, played by Kristen Wiig. Together, they conclude that the prime suspect is El Macho. While caught up in family life and a little romantic attraction to Lucy, Gru’s minions are secretly kidnapped and turned evil by El Macho. Gru and Lucy must find a way to save the minions and stop this evil villain. The filmmakers use comedy to bring out the general tone to the film. I enjoy the humor and extra sound effects that the film has to offer. Although the film may seem to bring out the kid in each and every viewer, in my opinion this helps to give the film more character.

Comments: One of my favorite movies ive seen this year of 2013 is called, In To Deep, directed by Michael Rymer and written by Michael Henry,Paul Aaron. The movie is based on a undercover cop that gets too deep into the Cincinnati drug trade. The drug lord, who calls himself "God", controls all of the drug action in the state of ohio. Omar Epps plays the roll of the undercover cop and LL Cool J plays the roll of the drug lord. One reason this movie is my favorite of this year is because it is very life real. Another reason why it is my favorite movie is because it has a lot of action. A lot of gun action and fighting. The last reason i really like this movie is because you can learn alot from this one film, and it all makes sence.

Secratariat is about the overwelmingly true story of a horse who over came the odds and won a bunch of races. This movie shows how a horse can take the hearts of many people just by being so great. i would most definitely recmend this movie to anyone who likes horses.

Comments: The best movie I’ve seen in quite some time would have to be We’re the Millers. This movie was a about David Clark, veteran drug dealer,(played by Jason Sudeikis) who is forced into smuggling drugs across the Mexican border because he’s unable to pay back his drug lord. He poses as the dad of a generic middle class family that is just there on vacation. His family is played by Jennifer Aniston(mother), Emma Roberts(daughter), and Will Poulter (son). All the actors/actresses did a great job in making this movie as funny as it was. This movie is a comedy mixed with crime and a little bit of romance. The reason I liked this movie so much was because it was hilarious throughout the entire thing. Also I have never seen a movie quite like this one, it was a unique idea. This is also the kind of movie that everyone thought was funny and still quotes the movie even after it leaves the theaters. If you are looking for a good comedy and don’t mind a little vulgarity, this is a great choice and is sure to have you laughing the whole time.

Comments: The best film that I have seen in the past year, which I can think of, would have to be We’re the Millers. We’re the Millers is an amazing film that features comedy and crime. It was directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber and stars Jason Sudeikis who plays David Clark, Jennifer Aniston who plays Rose O’ Reilly, and Ed Helms who plays Brad Gurdlinger. The protagonist is David Clark, a veteran pot dealer. The antagonist is his boss brad Gurdlinger. Brad got robbed and didn’t make the cut for the week so his boss forced him to go to Mexico to bring a shipment of marijuana into the United States. Brad creates a family to make it a casual environment to help bring the illegal shipment across the border. The conflict he faces is when he gets to Mexico he expects a small load but it’s the complete opposite, a very large load. He tries to go through the border without getting caught with a whole RV full of marijuana. We’re the Millers is action pack, casual movie that is a great American comedy movie.

Comments: First off, I have to agree with Brandon about Warm Bodies. It's a movie that mashes genres together to make it awesome. Secondly, there is no better choice for Hugh Jackman as Logan/Wolverine, like Alex said. Although, if you knew he was a Broadway actor you may not think so, but he knows how to perform and understands characters well. Now You See Me is a movie with an abundance of special effects. Since the movie has to do with magic there is obviously going to be sleight of hand as well Computer Generated Images (CGI). Daniel Atlas (Jessie Eisenburg), Merritt McKinney (Woody Harrelson), Henley Reeves (Ilsa Fisher), and Jack Wilder (Dave Franco) are four magicians that are trying to get in this society to protect real magic. They pull heists in front of live audiences and get the FBI and a former magician, Thaddeus Bradley (Morgan Freeman) who debunks magic acts. The main FBI agent on the case is Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo) and his partner from Interpol, Alma Dray (Mélanie Laurent). The four magicians are always ahead of the FBI agents creating a suspenseful movie. It almost makes you believe that all the magic is real.

Comments: Now we're talking, folks. Thanks for all the new entries, and all the movie recommendations, as well as the criticism, Joellen. It IS disappointing when filmmakers "mess" with the source material they're using in order to appeal to a larger audience. For fans of the original novels such films are based on, it can be a really frustrating experience. I notice that, so far, most of you have focused on fantasy, horror, science fiction and action-packed films filled with suspense and humor in your entries. If you think about of some of the earliest silent films we've been looking at in class, you can see that even 100 years ago, people craved thrills, chills, and other worlds (A Trip to the Moon, The Great Train Robbery, Keystone Kops). These are some of the things that the movies have always done best. They create worlds for us to enter that seem somehow more exciting than our ordinary lives, without ever really threatening us. A very special human quality.... maybe that's why those aliens want our brains, James!

Comments: I would have to say that the best movie that I have seen in a while would have to be The Conjuring. I must say that it is one of the best horror movies of 2013. The director, James Wan, has an extraordinary sense on how to scare people with this spine chilling movie. The protagonists in this movie would have to be Patrick Wilson who plays Ed Warren, and Vera Farmiga who plays Lorraine Warren. These two play a huge role in the movie as in which they are paranormal investigators that are actually called out to help a family rid their new house of evil entities. Just the sheer fact that Ed and Lorraine have a room that is filled with items that have spirits holding on to them is just amazing. This film gives you an inside look at what people have reported in real life for hundreds of years. This horror/action packed film is a most see for horror seeking audiences. All in all I would have to say that this is a unique movie not in a way of genre but in a way on how it gives you a look into the reports that are reported everyday all over the world and has been for hundreds of years; while at the same time is gives you the spine tingling, eye popping, heart racing horror movie that everyone loves. ( Well us weird people anyways)

Comments: I recently saw the film The City of Bones, directed by Harald Zwart, with the screenplay written by Jessica Postigo. It is based on the book written by Cassandra Clare, which is a part of the The Mortal Instruments series. Lily Collins stars as Clary Fray, a teenage girl who discovers she can see the fairly demonic side of New York, known as the Downworld. It's because of this ability that she meets Jace Herondale, played by Jamie Campbell Bower, a Shadowhunter who destroy demons and the like. The two go through a story line that is rather similar to the book, especially in spirit when it comes to fighting and protecting each other. The general facts of the movie are correct when compared to the novel, as are most of the characters' personalities and their appearances. Unfortunately the movie became rather disappointing for me about 2/3rd's of the way through, as a huge fan of the book, when the plot was completely twisted. The story line took a rapid turn, entering characters we never should have seen that early on, in ways they would not have acted. Secrets were revealed that were not seen until the later books, as well as what seemed to be a death, and more. Facts and plot were completely thrown aside in order to create more excitement for the audience, end the story sooner, and probably attract more viewers. As a stand alone movie it could be considered quite well done, but when compared the book the lack of proper story line ruins it. I personally hope they don't attempt to make a sequel, since they ruined the entire plot of the first three books

Comments: The best movie i've seen by far has been Colin and Greg Strause's Skyline. Protagonist Jarrod played by actor Eric Balfour takes his pregnant girlfriend Elaine played by Actress Scottie Thompson to los angeles for a vaction only to be caught up in an invasion. This movie is my favorite due to the special effects used to make the aliens seem real. One thing that caught my eye was how the aliens needed the human brain to function. This movie is an amazing horror and action packed with a hidden twist of romance and heroicotism between Jarrod and Elaina

Comments: I enjoy a lot of different movies but if I had to chose my favorite genre it would have to be horror. I love the feeling of not knowing whats going to come next and being on the edge of your seat the entire time. I enjoy horror films that really make you think. One of my favorite horror films is Hide and Seek directed by, John Polson. Through out the film you think one thing is happening then you find out that it was something completley different, it's really thrilling. Robert De Niro and Dakota Fanning play lead roles in the film. I also really enjoy Disturbia directed by D.J. Caruso and Prom Night directed by Nelson McCormic.

Comments: Now You See Me is a phenomenal movie in which four specifically chosen illusionists are tracked by the FBI and an Interpol detective as they continue to complete greater stunts, while maintaining the ability to stay just out of reach for the authorities. Now You See Me was co-written by Ed Solomon, Boaz Yakin, and Edward Ricourt and directed by Louis Leterrier. Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, and Dave Franco do an incredible job as the Four Horsemen. Mark Ruffalo is the tracker for the FBI, with Melanie Laurent as the Interpol detective, and Michael Caine plays an interesting role in a stunt by the horseman. In my opinion, this is a must-see film. You will not be disappointed if you have a good taste in comedy.

Comments: Corrected entry: The best film that I’ve seen in the past year is Texas Chainsaw 3d directed by John Luessenhop. The protagonist is Alexandra Daddario who plays Heather Miller. She faces a major conflict. Heather is the only one out of the Sawyer family who survived. She goes to inherit her grandmother’s mansion. However, her cousin Leatherface also lives there and decides to hunt her down. This makes her trip a nightmare. This is my favorite film because, the director uses suspense, excitement, and mystery. Horror portrays a great aspect of film. This movie has a great plot that keeps audiences on their seats. I also like how the movie explains that Heather’s family has died, and now she is on her way to her grandmother’s mansion to collect her inheritance. Texas Chainsaw is a great horror film with many characteristics to it.

Comments: The best film I have seen so far this year would have to be The Wolverine. Hugh Jackman, who plays Logan, does an excellent job in bringing the Marvel hero to life. In one scene, Logan is fighting this giant Adamantium (the metal his claws are made from) samurai robot that was made specifically to kill him. At one point, he tackles this robot down 4 stories like its no big deal. This just goes to show that Jackman truly portrays Logan's beastly side-his inner Wolverine. In my opinion, no one could play Logan better. My favorite genre of films are action-packed Superhero movies with a basic easy-to-follow plot. This type of genre always gives me the satisfaction of justice being served. Watching bad guys crash and burn by the main protagonist is always cool. The Wolverine, The Green Lantern, and the Iron Man series are all perfect examples of "justice is served" films.

Comments: Brandon, I didn't get to see all of Warm Bodies, but I read some pretty good reviews of it at www.metacritic.com, a good site for evaluating what movies are worth watching. I like the genre-mashing you describe (comedy, romance and horror), because straight zombie stories are starting to wear thin. They've been a big presence in pop culture over the past ten years, since Zack Snyder (300, Man of Steel) did a remake of George Romero's Dawn of the Dead in 2004. I did enjoy playing a post-apocalyptic videogame this summer, which I write about on the blog I keep here on my Newfield site, Cayuga Skies. This PS3 game, The Last of Us, didn't have zombies exactly... more like "infected" humans. They were quite scary. I also saw Brad Pitt's big summer flick, World War Z, which was okay... better than The Walking Dead (much faster zombies!), but still a bit tired.  It's clear we need some new monsters.  Maybe films like Zombieland and Warm Bodies are a more promising direction for the zombie genre.

Comments: I would have to say that the best film I can think of that I've seen in the past year was Warm Bodies. The film was directed by Jonathan Levine and the two protagonists were Julie and R. Nicholas Hoult was the actor for R and Teresa Palmer was the actor for Julie. R is a very strange zombie that doesn't always enjoy eating people. Julie is a normal girl that's just trying to survive. This movie had a good mix of comedy, horror, and even a little romance. All in all, I think it was a good, unique movie that strayed away from the plot of a typical zombie movie, setting it apart in a good way.
