ACCOUNTING I
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course stresses the principles and procedures needed to build a solid foundation in Accounting fundamentals; so students will become thinkers, decision makers and problem solvers.
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS: Everyone is to be on time and prepared for class.
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
3-ringed Binder with 5 tab dividers (calendar, notes/handouts, homework, Guest Speakers, Misc), CALCULATOR, Notepaper, Pencil AND Pen (blue or black ink)

GRADING PROCEDURES:
The student’s grade will be based on quizzes, tests, homework and projects as follows:
40% Tests (projects may also count as a test grade)
60% Workbook, Homework, Activities, Binder Check
Students who successfully complete this class will be able to:
- Understand and use business accounting terminology with ease.
- Understand the structures of business: proprietorships, partnerships and corporations.
- Analyze business transactions.
- Develop and use a balance sheet.
- Develop and use a journal, ledger and worksheet, schedule of accounts receivable and payable.
- Develop and use an income statement, distribution of net income statement.
- Understand the accounting cycle.
