Transition

What is Transition?

Students with disabilities who are 15 years of age or will be 15 during their current IEP year are required to participate in transition activities to support their post-secondary plans.

Odessa-Montour is currently collaborating with a Transition Facilitator through GST BOCES to plan some of the transition activities that are taking place during the 2014-2015 school year.

Transition activities for this year include but are not limited to:

  • Job shadows
  • Field trip to a bank
  • Etiquette training at the Community Foods for Jobs Program
  • Field trip to the Schuyler County Court House and DMV
  • Exploratory field trips for the 8th grade
  • Field Trip to WorkforceNY/SchuylerCounty Human Services Complex
  • Trainings in through AIMIndependentLivingCenter:
    • Time management
    • Conflict Resolution
    • Employment Strategies
    • Interview Skills
    • Self-Advocacy
    • Driver Permit Training

** These transition activities are subject to change every year depending on students’ needs. Some activities such as job shadows or working with other community agencies are on an individual basis.
