Wear ORANGE & Go GREEN

REUSING & RECYCLING FOR OUR LOCAL SPCA

April is National Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month.  Orange is their official color.  As a class, in support of the kind and caring treatment of animals we all wore
ORANGE!  (For more information on the ASPCA go to  http://www.aspca.org/about-us/aspca-april/

In addition, April 22 was Earth Day.  Earth Day was created to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment.  As a class we talked a lot about going green by reducing, recycling and reusing items to help keep our Earth (and community) healthy. We also read "The Lorax" by Dr. Suess. This story helped us learn that we need to conserve the Earth's precious resources.

To help us make real life connection to taking care of our Earth and its’ animals we collected USED items for our local SPCA.  We focused on recycling and reusing items that can be found around the house. Some of the things collected were: used towels, rags, blankets, shoe boxes, leashes, water dishes, toys, and newspapers.

 Reflections on the day....

Wearing Orange by Nathan

We are wearing orange which shows that we love animals.  Going green means giving things to the SPCA that we do not use that they can now use.  I made a tag that has animals it.  I love dogs they are my favorite animal.

SPCA By Katie

Today my class is wearing orange and going green. That means we are treating our animals kindly. The going green part is keeping our Earth healthy and clean. We also made tags that show a lot of animals on it. The tag also said SPCA. We all love animals but we all need to treat them kindly.

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not."

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!!

So…if you can, in the future, please recycle reusable items to help out a wonderful cause in our community and bring your slightly used items to your local SPCA just like we did!!!
