All About Mr. Armstrong

  Mr. Armstrong is a native of Canandaigua, New York and is a graduate of Canandaigua Academy.  While in high school he was a member of a championship marching band and chorus.  He also participated in swimming and soccer and numerous clubs and activities.  He also holds college degrees from Finger Lakes College in Canandaigua, NY, St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY and Nazareth College in Rochester, NY.  He has been teaching at Newfield Elementary School since the fall of 1982. 

  Mr. Armstrong is active on many curriculum committees at school.  He also actively participates in many school events such as the high school and middle school plays, pep band, concerts, fund raiser events and more.  He also helps out with the high school, middle school and elementary school music programs.  Mr. Armstrong is also an active member of the Newfield Sports Boosters organization.  He regularly attends many of the sporting events and supports all of the student activities at Newfield.

  Outside of school Mr. Armstrong works for the New York State Field Band Conference, the Sherburne Pageant of Bands, plays trombone, sings in the Mostly Motown ensemble from Ithaca, New York, follows the Newfield Trojans, Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres and the New York Yankees.  He also has been selected to be the marching band judge at the Hamilton, NY 4th of July Parade for the past dozen years and the marching band/bagpipe band judge for the Syracuse St. Patrick's Parade.  Mr. Armstrong is also a proud member of the award winning Newfield Kazoo Band.  He enjoys writing as well.  Mr. Armstrong has written many feature articles for the Syracuse Post-Standard, the Syracuse Herald-American, the Norwich Evening Sun, the Springville Journal, additonal periodicals and several websites.  He also was a writer for Drum Corps World Magazine of Madison, Wisconsin from 1978-1991 and recently had some artwork published in a book called "The Art of Drum Corps."  He also loves to read, do cartooning (Flintstones!) , take long walks, watch old black & white movies and travel-but he really enjoys being a teacher!
