The Health Care Profession is one of the fastest growing careers in our country and offers a variety of opportunity for continuing education and advancement for the qualified individual. It is however a physically, emotionally, and intellectually challenging career.  Health Care requires people who enjoy dealing with people, are self directed, and willing to be life long learners. Being able to work effectively as a team member and utilize various techniques of communication are essential characteristics.  Health care workers must possess the ability to apply theoretical information and adapt it to changing circumstances quickly and efficiently, without hesitation.  They will be able to observe and report a patient’s ability to perform Activities of Daily Living; which they will then assist the Nursing staff with the development and implementation of an appropriate plan of care.  They will then assist in evaluating that plan of care to determine if it is suitable, or if changes are needed.

Our Classroom and Lab experience, in combination with the supervised clinical experience, give the student the skills and knowledge that are required to become a New York State Certified Nurse Assistant.  For many students, this is a first step to a life long career in the health care field.
