Welcome to Accounting I!

Description:  This exciting full-year course offers students hands-on workbook and computer experiences to learn the complete accounting cycle for a sole proprietorship, partnership and a corporation, including service and merchandising businesses.

Learning Objectives:

• Analysis of source documents to determine appropriate accounts to debit and credit
• Journalize and post source documents to increase general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts both manually and automated
• Prepare financial statements for all 3 types of business
• Interpret information on a financial statement to make sound business decisions
• Investigate Fortune 500 companies to determine individual wealth and successes
• Understand the ethics involved in Accounting
• Identify and discuss career options in the Accounting field

The skills and methods used to teach this class supports all instructional areas, the NYS Learning Standards for Career Development and Occupational Studies, and the SCANS skills.
