Chorus

Chorus Information:

Fourth Grade Chorus meets every day 1 from 9:20- 9:50.  Students in chorus DO NOT miss any instructional time.

Fourth grade chorus helps students develop vocal technique and music literacy skills while working cooperatively in a large ensemble setting. Students also learn a wide variety of choral repertoire in varying languages.

Concerts:

The Fourth Grade Chorus has two formal concerts each year:
  •  December 15, 2018:  Winter Chorus Concert (chorus only) – 7:00pm - Big Flats Elementary Gymnasium
  • May 15th, 2019: 4th Grade Orchestra, Band, and Chorus Concert – 7:00pm, Horseheads High School Auditorium

The Fourth Grade Chorus is also invited to sing at a number of community events this upcoming school year:

Concert Dress Code:

Students are required to wear concert black and white at formal concerts (black bottoms, white top)
  • Black bottoms (dress pants, skirts, dresses) Please no jeans or athletic shorts
  • White tops (polo shirt, button down shirt, cardigan sweater, blouse, etc.)
  • Dark colored shoes, socks, and tights (please try to avoid wearing sneakers or flip-flops)

**For non-formal chorus events, students should dress in nice clothes, such as a pair of khaki pants and polo or skirt and blouse. We would like our students to look as nice as they sound! Please no athletic wear or flip-flops.

Chorus Community Service Project:

Each year for our winter chorus concert, the Big Flats Elementary Chorus completes a season of giving community service project. Students brainstorm a list of local organization or charities that they would like to assist during the holiday season and vote on a final selection. In the past the fourth grade chorus has served the Toy’s for Tots program, the Elmira Food Bank, the Back Pack Program, and the Horseheads Animal Shelter.
