Flouride Program

Bradford Central School District, in cooperation with the New York State Department of Health and the New York State Department of Education offers elementary school students a supplemental fluoride mouth rinsing program to prevent tooth decay.

This is a simple method of applying fluoride. It is also safe and effective in controlling tooth decay, and requires only a few minutes of classroom time. Participants will rinse their mouths in school under direct supervision with a 0.2% neutral sodium fluoride solution for 1 minute once a week. This is a rinse and spit procedure and therefore not intended for swallowing.

Studies show that a weekly fluoride mouth rinsing reduces tooth decay. You are encouraged to allow your child to participate in this valuable preventative program. Your child's participation is entirely voluntary and you may withdraw your child from the program at any time. This program is provided at NO COST at this time. A signed permission slip is required to be on file in the health office each year. These slips were distributed in September for the 2011-2012 school year.

Please feel free to call the health office at (607) 583-4626 ext 1232 if you have further questions or concerns.
