3rd Grade Math

Welcome to the Third Grade Math
Information Webpage!

We are going to be diving into a lot of new and exciting things this year!

Third Grade mathematics is about:
o  developing understanding of multiplication and
division and strategies for multiplication and division within 100
o   developing understanding of fractions,
especially unit fractions (fractions with numerator 1)
o    developing understanding of the structure of
rectangular arrays and of area
o describing and analyzing two-dimensional shapes

The math topics that students will be studying are broken down into MODULES.  Modules are similar to units of study around a general topic.  Each modules contains LESSONS; these lessons study the specific skills students need to know.  Each lesson builds on previous knowledge learned throughout past lessons.  Below you will find the MODULES we will study in third grade.

Module 1: Properties of Multiplication and Division and Solving Problems with Units of 2–5 and 10

Module 2: Place Value and Problem Solving with Units of Measure

Module 3: Multiplication and Division with Units of 0, 1, 6–9, and Multiples of 10

Module 4: Multiplication and Area

Module 5: Fractions as Numbers on the Number Line

Module 6: Collecting and Displaying Data

Module 7: Geometry and Measurement Word Problems
